Within the last few year dramatic advances in information and
communication technology have led to increased adoption of Electronic
Commerce business models. Especially the WWW has give the general public
an opportunity to take an active part in internet-based business
transactions. Even though today the majority of successful business
ventures is in business to business (B2B) transactions, my main interest
are the business to consumer (B2C) transactions.
In Electronic Retailing, i.e. initiating sales transactions on the
Web in combination with physical delivery of products, only part of the
value chain is digitised. The focus of my attention is on Digital
Commerce, in which all aspects of the transaction are fully digitised.
This is only achievable when dealing with digital products or services.
